This year-end's holidays is indeed very challenging, for me, of course. When you'd rather stay at home, you'd end up doing some unnecessary chores, dealt with some important matters to others-which aren't that important to you- thus, created a lot of fuss and yet unhealthy emotional rage(sleepless nites, loss of appetite, decrease of weight,grumpiness..etc)

And sometimes how you hope (and prayed a lot) for a break-a decent movie, some games to play, a walk to the beach at sunset, a short holiday away from home-but in reality it doesn't really happen most of the time.

Kids, brace urself for some workload prepared by me during this wrecthed holidays of mine, not made to torture u guys but just to help u to get through tough times when i'm on my maternity leave in April..I'll be off to my Disneyland with my bundle of joy..and will be back with loads of new and fresh ideas for teaching.

Movie of the week- The Blind Side- Starring Sandra Bullock-an ex-Ole Miss cheerleader who leads a very nice life with her beloved husband, an ex-basketball player and her two kids, Collins who plays volleyball and some cheerleading and Shawn Jr, a young boy who loved all the attention he can get.

It is based on a real story that revolves around Michael Oher,a.k.a Big Mike, who was homeless and had no one who cared for him. Sandra@Lee Ann found him wandering alone on a cold and freezing nite, he was wearing shorts and tee. The whole family took him home and treated him as theirs too.

As time passes, Sandra took into a lot of interest in Oher's study, she even employed a private tutor just to make sure that Oher gets what he deserved-a proper education. FYI, Oher has never been to school, he doesn't know how to read and write but has a very good memory when he listens well in his classes. From F, Oher now managed to score Bs and Cs!

Besides studying, they encouraged Oher to take up sports, Football, as he was way too big for a kid his age.*that's why they called him Big Mike*..he learns from scratch about the game and with Sandra's help, he pushes his way through as a successful player.

The ending-it's kinda teary...Why i chose this movie, i saw it was on the 1st spot in the list of the review, and i immediately looked for it at my friend's DVD shop. It was worth all my ringgits and Kokokrunch*a healthy snack too* and the tears...

On the 17th October, 5 of my students and I went on a super short trip to Kuching, Sarawak just to attend the KAA Awards for Sarawak. Here are some pics where our school, Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang est 1957, has won most of the awards:
1) Best PMR Subjects for Islamic Stream Class for Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Inggeris, Science, Maths, Arabic Language,Pendidikan Islam,
2) Best PMR students: Mohd Azlan Bin Umar (Male) and Nur Atiqah Jeffry (Female)
3) Best School for PMR-Sekolah Rancangan Khas
4) Innovative Teacher-Me..eheh..
Thanks to my boss, my former 3 Gigihs and 3 Tekun and to my bestie, Suekk for the support and love while I was working on the projects. Not to forget Dr Shanti for all the support to our school and Liew Tho Lip for being the best LABMAN-the guardian of the Media Lab, for allowing the usage of labs while I was on this project. DOMO ARIGATO GOZAIMAS!

I have been a fan of Manchester United since i was in high school..Lots of changes in the main players, my fav is still Eric Cantona and his legendary no 7 jersey... Since i got married, my husband is a huge fan of Liverpool, with all the updates on the players' name and stuffs, unfortunately, i was still in the dark and supports two teams: MU and Liverpool..*wink*

In this section, i would like to thank those who are in to football, for being such fans and kept their faiths in their teams respectively. As for me, EPL and other leagues, esp World Cup have gathered people of different races, languages and skin color under one roof..

Thanks to the gamers of Winning Eleven and other games related to soccer, u guys made me learn more about being a good player. Although i played some while i was in high school, i still find it tough to master the joystick of PS3, Xbox, Wii or even PSP, just to play those games!

When the fasting month is here, we'll see lots of Ramadhan Bazaar popping up with hundreds of food stalls selling varities of food ranging from local delicacies (my fave would be 'ayam percik', roasted chicken marinated with oozing mustard-coloured sauce) to yoghurt, drinks, and many more...(when typing this entry,i can feel myself drooling..)

Praise to Allah for giving me another year to fulfill my duties as a Muslim. Fasting-an act where one doesn't eat or drink or even do bad things from dusk til dawn, with the purpose to achieve a satisfaction in controlling one's temptations.

As for me, this year is kinda different as i'm spending my Ramadhan with another different batch of students..Last year's form 3 is no longer with me. They are still around but hardly saw them as our blocks were different,

My past experience with my former 3G, we played a lot of nasyid/islamic songs plus some Raya songs too, while doing our class work. At least they were awake, and although sometimes a bit off track, we managed to complete our class work in time.

I also asked them their fave dishes for Ramadhan..With that question, I managed to get most of their adjectives in describing the food and what they liked about this special month..

Well, hope you have a wonderful Ramadhan..Dont eat in public...and enjoy yourself for the 1 week holidays.

The first time I laid my hands on these Lego blocks, I was 6 years old..I paid no interest in in as back then, I was more interested in books...My youngest bro, on the other hand, loved his Lego bricks so much..Our parents bought him the cheap ones and later when he discovered 'LEGO', he would nag my mom(non-stop) to get him a set..

Lego bricks can be assembled and connected in many ways, to construct such objects as vehicles, buildings and even working robots. Anything constructed can then be taken apart again, and the pieces used to make other objects. SONY PSP would be my latest craze..As I watched the price of ONE SONY PSP unit yo-yoed from the least was rm600++ (that was 2 years' ago) to RM1200 per unit (recently)..

My boss has the craze for iPods (as she mentioned, the 4th generation iPod..), I was hoping for more info on iPods...I bought the simplest MP3 player, without much reference to any iPod families, as I couldn't fork out much money on expensive ones...

Thanks to Brownies (that's what I call my Sony PSP), i now could enjoy more GAMES, music, videos, WiFi and upload photo on it... My fave would be Virtual Tennis and NEed FOr Speed Undercover .I've spent my marketing days, waiting in the car, playing those games instead of accompanying my mom buying veges & fish...(Moral: Don't do that to your mothers, folks...as i've had my equal share of 'Parental Advisory Session')

Once upon a time, we have heard stories regarding vicious and evil stepmothers(mainly from Cinderella, Snow White, Bawang Putih n Bawang Merah etc) who treated their stepchildren with less love...

Pekerja kilang, Shaari Hamid, 34, ditemui tergantung pada tali di bilik sama mayat dua anaknya ditemui, kira-kira jam 12.30 tengah hari.

Mayat dua beradik itu, Muhamad Shafril Shamir dan adiknya, Nor Ameelia Syafiqah, ditemui terlentang bersebelahan antara satu sama lain di atas tilam bersama satu botol susu. Difahamkan, dua beradik itu yang tinggal bersama ibu mereka, Norhanizah Ahmad, 27, di Titi Serong, Parit Buntar, diambil bapa mereka, kelmarin. Pasangan itu tinggal berasingan dan dikatakan dalam proses perceraian.

Ketua Polis Daerah Seberang Prai Selatan, Superintendan Shafien Mamat, berkata mayat tiga beranak itu ditemui kakak Shaari yang pergi ke rumah berkenaan. Katanya, wanita itu pergi ke rumah adiknya dan mencurigai sesuatu kerana kereta Shaari ada di depan tetapi pintu rumah tertutup. Sebaik wanita itu masuk rumah, dia terkejut kerana melihat adiknya tergantung, manakala dua beradik terbaring di atas tilam. "Polis juga menemui beberapa dokumen yang boleh membantu siasatan," katanya.
Shafien berkata, siasatan awal mendapati tiga beranak itu meninggal dunia kira-kira tujuh jam sebelum mayat mereka ditemui.

What a shocking news to read about a pregnant man....as i did discuss this matter with my students, i find their personal views interesting. Although children/they are still young and learning, i hoped that they would learn to differentiate things;from right or wrong. As to some people, i guess my methods of teaching would clearly be against some parents' or teachers' principle of teaching.

No pun intended, kids deserves the rights to educate themselves on how to get knowledge, the right way..

History Of Jeans

Jeans are trousers made from denim. Mainly designed for work, they became popular among teenagers starting in the 1950s. Historic brands include Levi's, Jordache, and Wrangler. Today jeans are a very popular form of casual dress around the world and come in many styles and colors, with the "blue jeans" particularly identified with the American culture, especially the American Old West.

The earliest known precursor to jeans is the Indian export of a thick cotton cloth, in the 16th century, known as dungaree. Dyed in indigo, it was sold near the Dongarii Fort near Bombay. Sailors cut it to suit them.[1]

Jeans fabric was made in Chieri, a town near Turin (Italy), in the 1600s. It was sold through the harbour of Genoa, that was the capital of an independent republic, and a naval power. The first were made for the Genoese Navy because it required all-purpose pants for its sailors that could be worn wet or dry, and whose legs could easily be rolled up to wear while swabbing the deck. These jeans would be laundered by dragging them in large mesh nets behind the ship, and the sea water would bleach them white. According to many people the jeans name comes from bleu de Gênes, i.e., blue of Genoa. The raw material used to come from the city of Nîmes (France) de Nîmes i.e. denim.

APABILA membuka mata dari tidur setiap pagi, bacalah doa kesyukuran kerana usia kita dipanjangkan Allah, terselamat daripada kelalaian dan kelemahan tidur.Tidur adalah kemestian bagi manusia. Memang pelik dan ganjil jika ada manusia berkata mereka tidak pernah tidur sepanjang hidupnya.

Manusia bukannya enjin, ia perlukan rehat. Enjin pun bekerja jika ada minyak atau elektrik, itupun enjin tidak kekal lama jika digerakkan tanpa henti.Walaupun manusia mendapat makanan dan minuman mencukupi, mereka akan penat jika bekerja tanpa rehat.

Justeru, cara terbaik ialah berehat atau tidur untuk me mulihkan tenaga.Selain itu, kita hendaklah insaf pintu taubat masih terbuka. Dan, ketahuilah tidur itu adalah pelajaran bagi yang hidup merasai setengah kematian. Melalui tidur, Tuhan mengajar kita mengingati kematian.Melalui tidur, Tuhan mengajar kita hikmah mimpi. Dan, adab tidur juga Tuhan tunjukkan kita melalui Nabi. Betapa syumulnya Islam, membimbing hal yang kecil hingga perkara yang besar.Berwuduklah sebelum tidur kerana Allah akan memelihara roh kita di sisi-Nya. Tetapi, jika tidur tanpa wuduk, Tuhan tidak akan memandang kita dan membiarkan jin dan syaitan mengganggu kita. Itulah kita sering dibuai mimpi kosong yang tidak berfaedah.

Tidurlah di atas rusuk kanan dan menghadap kiblat kerana ia satu cara wahyu diturunkan. Mimpi yang benar adalah mimpi diberkati Tuhan.Tidurlah apabila rasa mengantuk. Dengan tidur, anggota tubuh akan mendapat kerehatan dan tenaga akan pulih kembali. Usahlah tidur berlebih-lebihan kerana perbuatan itu akan mengakibatkan badan menjadi letih dan lesu. Tidurlah sekadar sebagaimana disyorkan Islam, ditunjukkan oleh Nabi s.a.w iaitu tidur sebelum Zuhur.Gunakanlah masa pada siang hari untuk menguruskan pentadbiran dunia. Tidurlah sedikit pada waktu malam dan bangun memperhambakan diri dari tengah malam hingga ke pagi. Inilah contoh tidur yang ideal dan amalan manu sia-hamba yang mencari keredaan Tuhannya.Jauhkan diri kita daripada amalan tidur dua kali pada siang hari kerana amalan itu perbuatan syaitan. Hindarkan diri daripada tidur terlalu lama supaya tidak dikencing syaitan.

Janganlah tidur siang menjadi kemestian kerana tabiat ini akan mengeruhkan wajah dan rezeki menjadi mahal.Berusahalah menjaga adab tidur, elakkan menelentang, kaki bersilang atau tertiarap dan mengangkat punggung.

Tutuplah aurat dan tidurlah di tempat yang terselamat daripada fitnah. Berlindunglah kepada Allah, insya-Allah diri kita akan mendapat berkat.Ingatlah masalah tidur sering dianggap remeh dalam hidup ini tetapi pada hakikatnya ia adalah jurang yang dalam yang berupaya mengakibatkan diri kita hidup tak terancang, hilang matlamat dan hilang punca.Syaitan bersumpah dengan tiga perkara. Selagi makhluk Allah yang bernama manusia melakukannya, selagi itulah pintu kesesatan terbuka luas dan mudah bagi mereka memperdayakannya. Tiga perkara itu ialah:

i. keinginan untuk makan
ii. keinginan terhadap perempuan
iii. keinginan untuk tidur

Selama mana ketiga-tiga keinginan ini terus subur dalam diri manusia, selagi itulah tidak ada kegagalan untuk syaitan menyesatkan manusia.

Sometimes it may seem like your skin is impossible to manage, especially when you wake up and find a huge zit on your nose or a cold sore at the corner of your mouth. The good news is that there are ways to prevent and treat common skin problems — read on for some tips.

Acne
A pimple starts when the pores in the skin become clogged with a type of oil called sebum, which normally lubricates the skin and hair. Acne is common during puberty when hormones go into overdrive, causing the skin to overproduce sebum. Because many oil-producing glands are on the forehead, nose, and chin, this area — the T-zone — is where a person is most prone to pimples.
Here are some tips to help prevent breakouts and clear them up as fast as possible:

1.Wash your face twice a day (no more) with warm water and a mild soap made for people with acne. Gently massage your face with circular motions. Don't scrub. Overwashing and scrubbing can cause skin to become irritated. After cleansing, the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends applying an over-the-counter (no prescription needed) lotion containing benzoyl peroxide. This will decrease oil and bacteria.

2.Don't pop pimples. It's tempting, but here's why you shouldn't: Popping pimples can push infected material further into the skin, leading to more swelling and redness, and even scarring. If you notice a pimple coming before a big event, like the prom, a dermatologist can often treat it for you with less risk of scarring or infection.

3. Avoid touching your face with your fingers or leaning your face on objects that collect sebum and skin residue like the telephone receiver. Touching your face can spread the bacteria that cause pores to become inflamed and irritated. To keep bacteria at bay, wash your hands before applying anything to your face, such as treatment creams or makeup.

4. If you wear glasses or sunglasses, make sure you clean them frequently to keep oil from clogging the pores around your eyes and nose.

5.If you get acne on your body, try not to wear tight clothes, which don't allow skin to breathe and may cause irritation. You also might want to stay away from scarves, headbands, and caps, which can collect dirt and oil, too.

6. Remove your makeup before you go to sleep. When buying makeup, make sure you choose brands that say "noncomedogenic" or "nonacnegenic" on the label. Throw away old makeup that smells or looks different from when you first bought it.

7.Keep hair clean and out of your face to prevent additional dirt and oil from clogging your pores.

8. Protect your skin from the sun. It may seem like a tan masks acne, but it's only temporary. A tan can cause the body to produce extra sebum, which may worsen your acne, not improve it. Tanning also causes damage to skin that will eventually lead to wrinkles and increase your risk of skin cancer.

If you're concerned about acne, talk to a dermatologist. Dermatologists offer a range of treatments that help to prevent and clear up acne and acne scars. A dermatologist can help you find the treatment method that's best for you and can also give you lots of useful tips for dealing with acne and caring for your skin type. Some salons and spas have trained skin specialists, called estheticians, who can offer advice and skin care treatments.

The 2008 Summer Olympics in China are drawing a lot of attention right now for political reasons. I’ve heard, though, that one ray of light is China’s effort to make the event as green as possible. What’s going on in that regard? - Josh R., Concord, NH

"The "Birdcage," one of seven Olympic stadiums being built in Beijing for the upcoming 2008 Summer Olympics. All are equipped with solar generators that will provide most of the outdoor lighting. The entire hot water supply for the Olympic Village will be powered by solar energy -- and the main stadiums will receive power from Beijing’s first wind farm."IMage Courtesy of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.It’s true that China is using the upcoming Beijing Olympics as a sustainability showcase, going so far as to dub the event the “Green Olympics.” Through a partnership with the U.S. government and the Maryland-based International Center for Sustainable Development, China is giving Beijing a green makeover to make the city a model for net zero pollution, green building and sustainable community development. According to China’s Technology Minister Wan Gang, the Beijing Olympics are expected to generate some 1.2 million tons of carbon dioxide, in large part because of the flying the world’s athletes will do to get to and from the games. To offset these potent greenhouse gases, China will take a series of measures, Wan says, including planting trees, closing 1,000 small coal mines before and during the games and banning up to a million cars from city streets. Beijing’s Olympic Village, where the Chinese government has been busy erecting dozens of stadiums and other structures according to rigorous green standards, is emerging as quite an example of sustainable community development. The steel-looped Beijing National Stadium, for instance, includes a rainwater collection arrangement, a natural ventilation system and a clear roof with inflatable cushions made from ETFE (Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene), a kind of plastic that increases light and heat penetration. Another example is the “Water Cube,” a spectacular-looking structure that looks like a building made of bubble-wrap. Officially known as the National Aquatics Center, it is completely surrounded with ETFE pillows and is expected to cut energy use by 30 percent. And when it has finished serving its purpose as an Olympic venue, it has been built to be converted to a shopping area and leisure center with tennis courts, retail outlets, nightclubs and restaurants.

All seven main Olympic stadiums are equipped with solar generators capable of outputting 480 kilowatts of energy at any given moment. Ninety percent of the lighting outside the stadiums, as well as the entire hot water supply for the Olympic Village will be powered by solar energy. Also, the main stadiums will receive power from Beijing’s first wind farm. While the Olympic Games will only last for two weeks, environmentalists hope the greening of Beijing will indeed continue beyond the summer ‘08. Some proposals include building 14 wastewater treatment facilities to achieve 90 percent treatment rate in Beijing, and extending potable water to the entire city.

Also, the municipal government of Beijing has invested in expensive energy-efficient heating and transportation equipment that will greatly improve environmental quality for decades hence. Beijing, where 1,000 new cars roll onto the streets every day, also plans to source clean energy from other parts of China and through the purchase of pollution offsets on a quickly expanding international market.

Welcome to my blog...a place where u can actually access some PMR/SPM based questions or articles useful for ur needs...feel free to share sumthing with me. Basically, I'm an English teacher, seeking some fun ways of learning via online (and to fullfil the needs of my department towards 5 star ranking...WaHHH..so honest!!)
